DQ Learning Academy grew out of an unlikely intersection: academic research and professional cooking. Founded by an educator with a PhD in Hispanic Studies and hands-on culinary training, the academy brings together two worlds rarely taught side by side — language as structure, and culture as lived experience.
Meet Our Founder
María Vera is an educator, cultural specialist, and lifelong learner dedicated to creating
meaningful connections through language and culture. Drawing on years of experience
in education, intercultural learning, and community engagement, she founded DQ
Learning Academy to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and bring people closer to the
Spanish-speaking world through authentic learning experiences.
